2 cups water
½ cups rolled oats
½ tsp. salt (optional)

Bring water and salt to a boil. Gradually add oats while stirring constantly with a whisk. Reduce heat and continue cooking for 5 minutes or until desired consistency. Stir often. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 2 minutes before serving.

Powdered oatmeal (or pinhead) is used as a breakfast cereal. It is also good as a thickener for soups or stews or is used in baking oatcakes, scones or cookies.
