Gum Drop Cookies

½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
1 ½ cups quick cook rolled oats
3/4 cup baking gums
1 ½ cups coconut

Cream together margarine and sugars. Beat in egg, water and vanilla. Combine flour with baking powder and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in rolled oats, gumdrops and coconut. Shape into 1″ balls and place 2″ apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350F for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: About 4 dozen cookies.
